Volunteer Teams

Support Staff/Safekeepers for Divorce Care of Kids (DC4K)

Provide loving care and connect with hurting children whose parents are going through divorce. Safekeepers help them feel safe by dealing with their losses through workbooks, DVD lessons, stories and activities.

Thursday Nights 6:45 – 8:45 (Need 3) 13 weeks Feb 18 – May 13. You could also help every other week if that fits your schedule better.

We are always looking for people who LOVE GOD and LOVE KIDS.

 Our JH Ministry (grades 7-8) is called THRIVE and we meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30pm.

Our SH Ministry (grades 9-12) is called ELEMENT and we meet on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30pm.

We also have one event a month throughout the school year and two events a month during the summer.

Friday Table Set-up Crew
Set up tables for exhibitors

Friday Table Wiping Crew
Wipe off tables set up for exhibitors

Clean-Up Crew (after event/inside)
Break down tables and reset rooms for Sunday
Clean bathrooms
Must be 18 years old or older

Clean-Up Crew (after event/outside)
Assist in removing miscellaneous outside items that were set-up for the event including: portable heaters, traffic cones, pedestrian signs, hay bales, power cords, and trash that may have been left behind
Must be 18 years old or older

Exotic Animal Show Hosts
Assist with crowd control, greet people for each show and close the doors when attendance has reached capacity for the room. Communicate appropriate doors for entering/exiting as well as performance times
Must be 18 years old or older

Face Painters
Copy or create small animal pictures on child’s cheek or hand or cover entire face to look like an animal face; samples and supplies provided
Must be 14 years old or older

Face Painters’ Assistant
Provide assistance to face painters by cleaning brushes and supplying fresh/clean water
Must be 12 years old or older

Facility Assistants
Act as gracious hosts to our guests by providing directions or answering questions
Positioned throughout church at key locations
Must be 18 years old or older
Please be aware that this is a solitary role so we won’t be able to pair you with a friend/spouse
Be aware and report any issues to Volunteer Central

Greeters
Welcome people as they enter building
Hand out programs and plastic bags
Must be 18 years old or older
Please note that you will be positioned near a door so you will need to dress accordingly

Kiddie Corral Host
Greet parents and children
Supervise as they play with toys and games
This is not a child care room; parents must stay with their children
Must be 16 years old or older; or volunteering with a parent

Laser Shooting Booth Host
Help maintain lines of kids
Must be 18 years or older

Mascot

Mascots are in costume for one hour, interacting with children on 300 level
Please wear lightweight clothing (ex: t-shirt and shorts) as it will get hot inside the costume
Must be 14 years old or older

Mascot Aide
Aides walk alongside mascot as it’s difficult for mascot to see
Aides must be 18 years old or older

Mr. B’s Soda Station Crew
Hand out beverages (Coke Products, Arizona Tea, etc) to guests after they purchase them in the food court. Involves organizing and maintaining cold beverages in the cooling tubs throughout the shift.
Must be 18 years or older

Mr. B’s Table Wiping Crew
Help clean up trash and wipe tables in eating areas at Mr. B’s and living room; this would be a great opportunity for a parent/child team

Mr. B’s Water Station Crew
Help sell bottled water in Mr. B’s at Door #6; this will be an adult-only opportunity

Parking Directors
Keep aware of church parking lot openings in assigned zone
Assist guests to open spots
Must be 18 years old or older
Please note that this is an outside job (dress for the weather)

Pedestrian Safety Assistants
Serve as a “crossing guard” at key locations in church parking lot
Must be 18 years old or older
Please note that this is an outside job (dress for the weather)

Room Hosts
Provide assistance to exhibitors in assigned location
Answer questions for both exhibitors and guests
Must be 18 years old or older

SnowBall Room Operators
Assist small groups of children as they participate in this fun, interactive simulated snowball fight using soft balls
Remain in the room until shift ends
Must be 18 years old or older

Taxidermy Room Tear-Down Crew
Take down animal mounts, break down tables/portable walls, stack and load and unload from trailer
Must be 18 years old or older
Please note that this job may involve heavy lifting

Touch Boxes Team
Welcome children and parents
Encourage children to reach into the touch box and guess what is inside
Refer children to the answer card after they guess
Confirm that items are returned to the boxes for the next visitors
Distribute KidFest invitations as they finish visit
Must be 16 years old or older; or volunteering with a parent

Exhibitors Parking Directors
Assist exhibitors in parking their vehicles in assigned parking lots
Answer exhibitors’ questions
Must be 18 years old or older
Please note that this is an outside job (dress for the weather)

Exhibitors Room Hosts
Greet exhibitors as they arrive in their assigned room
Direct exhibitors to their assigned table
Must be 18 years old or older

Virtual Reality Fishing Assistants
Help maintain line of people as they participate in this activity
Ensure height/weight requirements are met
Must be 18 years old or older

VOLUNTEER CENTRAL INFO: (Open from 6:30am – 5:30pm in room 306)
All volunteers are to CHECK IN at Volunteer Central (room 306) and get their needed supplies including a volunteer lanyard and t-shirt.
It is very important you also CHECK OUT and RETURN your t-shirt and lanyard to Volunteer Central at the end of your shift.
Plan to arrive in Volunteer Central at the start of your shift time; we’ve already allowed about 15 minutes for you to check in and get to your assigned position.
Volunteer Central will be manned all day so personal items can be left there (but please identify your PERSONAL belongings).

Frontline Teams

The Usher Team exists to welcome, greet, serve and assist people as they enter a large community service or event while demonstrating graciousness and a Christ-like spirit. Usher Team members are agents of hospitality and facilitators of worship in a safe and secure environment.
Time commitment is one month on and one month off for one service.

The Greeter Team exists to welcome, greet, serve and assist people as they enter a large community service or event while demonstrating graciousness and a Christ-like spirit. Greeter Team members are committed to being friendly agents of hospitality, problem-solvers when needed, and most importantly, representatives of Christ to those who enter Calvary’s doors.
Time commitment is one Sunday a month for one shift.

MEN'S BREAKFAST BOWL

 Saturday, February 6, 2016 - Men's Breakfast Bowl with speaker Darryl Strawberry

Large Event Volunteers:

  • Please check in at Volunteer Central located at the Student Ministry Desk
  • Time shifts include check in time at Volunteer Central
  • Yellow event t-shirts and lanyards will be handed out at check in
  • Since the event is for men, female volunteers are restricted from the auditorium but will be able to listen to the program via the TV monitors in the 300 level hallway outside the balcony
  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age

Volunteer Teams:

Setup Crew Friday morning:

  • Male or female.
  • This team serves on Friday, February 5 setting up tables and chairs for the breakfast being served at the Breakfast Bowl
  • Time Shift: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Eating Room Hosts:

  • Male or female volunteers.
  • Volunteers will be assigned to each of the following rooms: the gym, Adventure Park (307), and Heritage Hall, Rooms 300, 301, 303, 304 and 305, 214, Café, Mr. B’s and Refinery
  • Role is to help identify open seats and notify appropriate catering personnel about any food needs
  • Time Shift: 7:00-9:00am

 Facility Assistants:

  • Female only volunteers
  • Positioned in strategic places to help direct men to their food serving rooms.
  • Please be aware of the fact that this is a solitary role so we won’t be able to pair you with a friend/spouse for this role.
  • Time shift: 7:00 – 9:00am

 Greeters:

  • Male or female volunteers
  • Positioned at entrances to welcome attendees as they enter Calvary’s doors
  • Time shift: 7:00 – 9:00am

 Serving Room Hosts:

  • Female only volunteers will be assigned to each food serving room.
  • Positioned at the serving room entrances, room hosts will check tickets to make sure attendees are in the correct serving room (per the color of their tickets)
  • Time Shift: 7:00 – 9:00am

 Ticket Checkers:

  • Male volunteers only.
  • Positioned at each of the auditorium/balcony entrances checking tickets as attendees enter auditorium after breakfast
  • Time shift: 8:15 – 9:00am

Ushers:

Male volunteers only.

  • Volunteers will help people find seats in the auditorium. 2 men will positioned at the two center doors of the auditorium and 2 men will be positioned upstairs in the balcony.
  • Time shift: 8:30-9:00am

Breakdown Crew:

  • Male or female.
  • This team will help break down the tables and chairs and reset rooms for Sunday morning ministries
  • Time shift: 10:20 – 11:45am

 Cleaning Crew:

  • Male or female.
  • This team will help clean rooms used for the Breakfast Bowl
  • Time shift: 10:20 – 11:45am
